Default gas leak/carbon mon. alarm

We need to replace our gas leak detector and the closest camping world is 86 miles, any ideas? Its beeping and flashes green/red.

Need to replace by Monday.

Help

Gas off-nothing to make the fumes.

I had this same situation last year, used a mop and glo on the floor and the alarm went crazy until I pulled the battery. Next day all was good.

It may be telling you to change the battery, if so supplied. Use the more expensive type in it, the cheaper do not have the voltage to keep it running.

Nearly every RV dealer would have these in stock. I think I even saw them at Walmart!

I suppose your only hope is that a local Rv dealer might have one

Is it a Safe-T-Alert?

Looked at mine, has a reset button, does yours?

Also has a note on it, Green --> Ok, Red --> Alarm, Red/Green --> check voltage -- is your TM battery charged?

Edit: Low voltage alarm triggers at ~ 7v

Tim is right these things go into alarm if the TM battery voltage is to low

Hi,
So mine is alarming. I had the 12v battery replaced with 2 6v batteries. Do I need to change out the CO detector?
Info - the battery voltage is reading at 13.3, the array is sending power as needed. I have been able to run lights and the fantastic fan without shore power.
Reset detector several times, same result.... alarming.
Thanks,
karen

Replacing the 12-volt battery with two 6-volt batteries in series will have no effect on the CO detector.

Do you have / can you get a voltmeter or multimeter? If so, measure the voltage at the detector.

If it is somewhere around 12 volts, then the hookup is OK and the detector must be bad.

If the voltage is around zero, then the hookup is bad - perhaps a blown fuse.

Hi,
I looked at the fuses.... all ok, so it must be a voltage issue, or the unit is bad. I will keep all posted. Thanks for the assistance!

The Elkmont's monitor runs off the trailer's main battery which is in good shape.

Ever since the trailer was new, the monitor starts beeping when the trailer's closed up, and it gets warm and humid inside: stuffy. First I thought it was a propane leak, but it would do it when the propane was turned off, and the trailer locked up in storage as well.

Maybe it's responding to high carbon dioxide levels as well as carbon monoxide and propane? Or some chemical cleaner like mop&glo or de-gassing of glues? Whatever, we make sure to have a nearby window cracked open when it's warm and humid, and we're inside.

But I do pull the fuse for it when leaving the trailer closed up for a day as the beeping has disturbed our campground neighbours.

Spray cans (hair spray, bug spray, spray paint, etc.) are usually pressurized with propane. They will seep propane especially when the temperature rises. This can set off the Propane monitor.
