Default 3326 Roof Leak at Latch on '06 Model

I found a small puddle on top the wardrobe by the king bed in my 2006 3326. After talking to TrailManor, I figured out that the roof latch is the culprit. TM says they have never seen this problem before or heard of anyone having this problem.

When I look at how roof closes, it whacks the roof latch enough to make it move some (flexing in the roof). This I suspect causes the sealant around the latch plate to allow some leakage.

To repair it seems simple enough, remove bracket, clean and reseal with SiliconII or the like, and re attach.

I do think putting a larger foot on the top would probably cure this problem, but what does the group think and has anyone else seen this problem before.

I am not really sure what a roof latch is. Is this something on a 3326 but not other units??

On the 3326 there is a latch on the roof by the curb side. When you close both halves this locks the two sections along with the lower latches on the bottom of the trailer.

We had the roof latch loosen last summer while on a trip to Maine. That created a leak and rain entered through the mounting holes and hence into the trailer. The dealer remounted the latch and sealed around it with silicone sealant. That was our last trip of the season so we haven't tested the repair. Had I known how much it rained in Maine in September...

Are these the latches that hold the sides down for travel? If not can you post a pic?

We had a driving rainstorm last night and resealing the roof latch worked just fine. it took about 30 minutes to do and only required a socket wrench to do the job.

I will take pictures sometime in the next few days as soon as I fold up the camper.

Country Girl -

Most TMs have four latches, one at each corner. The 3326 has a fifth latch, somewhere near the spot where the two roof shells meet when the camper is closed, to bind the roof halves together during travel.

Thanks Bill...I had no idea that it had that 5th latch...looked at them and have been in a few but never noticed. Thanks for the info.
