Curious TrailManor Ad in recent Higways Magazine

I was reading through a recent issue of Highways and came across a very nice Ad for TrailManor. Here is the start of the Ad: "100 MPG! You need less than one extra gallon of gasoline to tow a TrailManor 100 miles."

I am not sure what that statement means. Any ideas?

It refers to the impact on your gas milage. For instance I normally get 16 MPG. This means I would use 6.25 gallons to travel 100 miles.

My milage drops to 14.5 MPG when towing the TM. So I use 6.9 Gallons to tow the TM 100 miles.

So discounting the tow vehicle itself, in my case towing the TM 100 miles uses .65 gallons - so with my particlar tow vehicle my TM gets 153 miles on a gallon of gas. (100 miles/.65 gallons)

Your explanation makes perfect sense! But I wonder if others will be as confused (as I was) when reading the Ad?

It did confuse me at first reading, but when I read the whole blurb rather than just that "catchy" headline I understood. You have to admit, it does get your attention.
