Default Ideas for counter top with range gone -

I didn't plan this out fully, but I did get the 2720 old clunker range/oven out.

The old unit removal took longer than expected, but it came out clean.
It is quite heavy, but weight was not a major concern 10 years back.
I am tempted to scrap it, although functional, but I'll find a place to store it.

I am looking for suggestions as to what to use as a counter top piece
that will "fill in" the 20" wide opening. A microwave(light model) will reside
on that piece when we are camping. The new open area below will be
used for storage. New shelf and maybe a new door...
That area is a sizable area for storage in a camper.

The microwave will still reside in a plastic tote on the floor when on the road.

Happy Camping! Thanks, in advance, for any ideas.

Awesome project. We had a TM where the oven was, they installed a convention/microwave oven. Had a solid laminate counter top. You could just install a board level at the top and just glue down a piece of laminate. Rework the whole thing so it all matches. Or install a butcher block style wood, and use it as a cutting block. If it was me. I would mount a microwave in the below cabinet space and install a electric induction cook top. Re-laminate the whole counter top with something newer. Good luck with your project. Post some pictures.

Default Mostly done with a lightweight microwave -

I realized that the best countertop fill-in would be the old rangetop
cover, because it fits perfect and is stainless steel.

The new shelf is 1/2" plywood and the black netting can be configured to
suit different needs.

The Comfee microwave weighs less than 21 pounds and works good.
I have a couple of portable grills, like mostly everyone else, for camp cooking.

The stainless steel top is actually 2 pieces, and opens for "sandwich storage".

The microwave and tv reside in a plastic tote while on the road.

The conversion is still in a rough draft stage, and may be further modified.

The range/oven assembly went to a yard sale, and are gone somewhere.
