Wow, that sure looks great! We have a problem with little stink bugs getting in by those flaps, I'll bet that is a tighter seal. Thanks for the details, I'm getting my hubby right on it!

Beautiful! I hope you won't mind a few more questions as I would like DH to make these for our TM, but he can't tell from the pictures how you attached the front trim. What type/thickness of wood did you use for the shelf/trim? Is the front trim at the same level as the shelf or is there a lip. Thanks for any assistance!

I don't think there is any solution for stink bugs. Our area was hit with them 3-4 years ago and they seem to get in the house even with the doors and windows closed. They have not found the camper in the garage. Or at lest this summer we have had stink bugs in the camper.

trim pieces
Did you attach the front and back trim pieces with pocket holes? This looks like a good winter project!
I'm a little concerned because there seems to be no going back once you cut the vinyl pieces that hold the flaps on the side parts. Tho once done that should be much better than the vinyl flaps.

Terryl, Read more. This is an add-on not a replacement. The shelves are over the flaps not instead of. He removes them when moving and puts them back during next set-up.

Clear as Mud :-)
We were excited to do this mod before we head to AZ in February for a couple of months and winter can arrive any minute in CO so we pulled the TM out today and got started. The bathroom was a piece of cake as nothing needed to be removed. We aren't the craftsmen Digger is but it's going to be a nice addition.
Next, one important point is that you don't have to cut the original flaps, at least with ours. If you lift the flaps you'll see a stip of wood that holds two pieces to the TM. You can remove the velcro flap without removing the bottom seal.
Then the differences because we have a 2619. We have a bed up front where Digger has a couch and we didn't want to bonk our noggins on shelves so we're going for a smaller scale, across the counter, fridge and dinette seat and then on the other side behind the dinette. This area is more challenging and I'm not sure exactly what Digger did but for the longer piece we placed four L-brackets spaced pretty much evenly behind that strip and re-tighted the screws. Then we placed the shelf on the brackets and from the outside, marked those screw holes. Eventually we will caulk where the brackets don't slide in. The shelf will sit on top of that strip of wood with the L-brackets sliding behind it. That's sweet and fast but it lists seriously toward the center of the trailer. The same will be true on the other side. So, tomorrow our project is to build that edge up, which should be a piece of cake. I imagine quarter round will also come into play. I'll post pictures. We've always installed pipe insulation under the flaps and will continue to do that. I get why that one part of flap is still showing in Diggers pictures.
