Tomorrow morning Dave from Edmond, Ok will set up his 2008 2720 at a local campground. We will connect it to water and electric and turn on the gas.

Once I have been satisfied that everything works I shall ask one more time "that's too much" and we will seal the deal. Well, not until Monday when the bank opens.

Wish us good luck, and good weather!

Edit: The weather behaved. The trailer checked out and a price was agreed upon. It's just 3, almost 4 times my original budget. Hey, it IS a Trailmanor!

2720 is not that hard to lift. An electric tongue jack makes it easier since you can easily tilt the trailer fore and aft.

Just a quick comment on the price paid on new or used TrailManor units. If you think about it, the REAL price paid for the unit is unknown until you sell it and thus, the unit, new or used, might not be as expensive as it looks.

For example, buy a used unit for $14,000 and use it for say 10 years. Then you sell it for $6,000. The real price paid on your used camper is $8,000.

This is the "cost of ownership" as I believe the auto industry uses the term.

Yes, and the cost of ownership also includes additional fuel, tires, batteries, repairs, etc. that you wouldn't have otherwise incurred. That bumps the real price back up there.

But it's still worth it.

Default Comparative cost of ownership

I'm going to take issue with ShrimpBurrito - If you have any trailer, you will have those expenses you mentioned. So, one may as well look at the purchase price minus the sales price, and use that for the comparison.

I added "comparative" to "cost of ownership", as I believe OP was/is going to purchase a trailer unit of one type or another. May as well keep the comparison clean, and disregard expenses that will be incurred regardless of unit.

Just my opinion.

I agree with you, as long as the comparison is between similar trailers.

My brother tows a dual axle 5th wheel trailer. Weight is more than 10,500 and less than 15,000.

I am pretty sure that the wear and tear on his tires is greater than on any TM, due to the weight.

The wear and tear on his batteries is also larger, due to the number of batteries he has. In my 2720 I do not have room for 4 Trojans. He has TV with Direct TV. I have neither. This would not be a good comparison.

We took the TM out for the first time. I still really appreciate how easy it is to set up compared to my pop ups I had. Plus it's really big inside with lots of storage.

The only problem I have experienced was an operator problem when closing it up. I noticed the front bed wouldn't push in from the outside. Solution, those flaps really have to be raised up and secured. My motto has always been if force is needed, something's wrong. So no serious damage done.
