Default Door Set-up Difficulty

Got our new 3124KS back in May-07. Had her out about 8 times. Mostly on good roads and several long trips.

Over the months it has gotten progressively more difficult to configure the doors during set-up. The swing jam (narrow one without the knob) is out of height adjustment with the stationary clip it swings in to by about 1/4 inch. That means I can't get the jam pushed into the clip on the stationary side. The ONLY way I've figured out to make the two connect, is to lower the stationary bars and significantly raise the door side of the unit.

I am positive this is not a function of being on an unlevel surface. The problem exists even on perfectly level slabs.

After I raise the side, with the stabilizer bars, enough to make the two pieces meet, I lower the stabilizers and perform a proper leveling.

When it's time to close-up, I again have to raise the door side with the stabilizers to separate the jam.

Needless to say this is a major pain.

It seems somebody had a similar problem and found out there's an adjustment that can be made on the door. I'd call Ed at TrailManor - he can tell you all about it.

I have the same problem with my TM. I push up the corner of the shell using my left palm on the foot sturrup, then swing the jam into place.

I've been experiencing the exact same thing too. Can you please post the solution here, when you find it?

Occasionally our TM's door would bind, and not operate smoothly. But thus far the binding has been caused by uneven leveling, that stresses the frame. But after reading these several posts, it sounds like there is more to it than just having the trailer level. I'd also be interested in what the fix or adjustment is, because I might very well experience the same problem at some point in the future.

Thanks, I sent TM an inquiry. I'll post the reply.

I too have the same problem. I am also interested in a solution.

I have found a temporary work around. When the TM is leveled, then shells raised, if the jamb is binding, I raise the back right stabilizer until there is about a 1/8 inch gap. It usually takes about 3 turns. I think it is just twisting the TM.

Question just a thought...

Is there any chance the pin is working its way up in its hole thereby protruding too far to allow fitting into the clip? If this is any part of the problem you could support the door jamb from below and try to tap (?) the pin down....mark

As I posted before, I have the same problem. I loosened the 4 bolts that hold the torsion bar inside the support arm and raised it up a bit. This worked for a while, but the torsion bar slipped again. Now I just live with it. I had thought about drilling a hole through the torsion bar to keep it from slipping. Nah, probably not a good idea.

Default door sticking

i'm not exactly sure what my friend did, but he fixed the door!!! he found some loose screws in most of the door assembly and tightened them. he replaced a raised screw that was hitting the top door with a flat head screw. he also shaved down the piece above the door fitting a little bit where it rubbed and lubed everything.
the door works like a charm!
gosh, i got the trailer so nice, i might have to buy it back for myself!!
