Default Small footprint microwave

I'm looking for a very small microwave to fit in the space between the wardrobe and the stove counter on our '05 TM 2619. (We don't want to add the microwave drawer.) That space is about 16.5" wide and about 18" is the narrowest microwave I've found. We're wondering if anyone has discovered a narrow footprint microwave to fit that space? We don't need a multifeatured one - just something for baking the occasional potato or defrosting things. - camp2canoe

Have you considered putting it on a shelf above the stove? It has worked well for us. Wife loves it there. Kids don't though, they can't reach it now.

Default Shelves on the side of the wardrobe

While we were at the New England Rally in Mystic, CT two weeks ago, I saw a TM with shelving on the kitchen side of the wardrobe. The microwave was on the bottom shelf. They had put the shelving strips on the side. They are not in the way when you lower the wardrobe to the floor because of the lip at the bottom of the wardrobe.

Anyway, they put large shelf brackets and a shelf for the microwave on the side of the wardrobe when they set up. Then the microwave is off the counter so you have the counter space by the stove. Microwaves are light so there is not a problem with that. And they had another shelf above it for other things.

I have been looking for the shelving strips to find one that is brown to blend in to the wood. Then we are going to make this addition.

WalMart had a microwave that was smaller than the Sharp model we bought for $54. Ours measures 18" which is just too big for the space. I thought the one we bought would fit but I forgot about the lip around the bottom of the wardrobe.

We have one that one of my daughters used in their dorm room, and it fits in the spot you ask about in our 2619 just fine. I will look at the mfgr and model when I get home tonight as it's popped up and we're getting ready for our first trip this next week.

Next to the microwave (in the space between the microwave and the armour) we have a set of 4 rack type baskets that nest on top of each other to make a structure about 3 feet tall or so. That's where we keep the snacks, bread products, other foods, etc. All very convenient.

Here's one that is either 10 or 12 inches wide:

Sharp also used to make one called the "Half Pint" that was about 14" cube, but I'm not sure if they are made anymore. They are on eBay though.

And here's a microwave that operates on 12VDC, but at a whopping 65 amps.

Ours is a Galanz 23FJ. It's 17.5" wide.

Still an inch too wide (unless I take the trim strip off the bottom of the wardrobe) but thanks for checking! - camp2canoe
