Default Need to Install New 12v Receptacle

We just purchased a new 2020 2720 rig to replace our older one. (Had no problems selling our old one). Believe it or not, this new rig did not come with a 12 volt receptacle like our old one had 2. These receptacles were always hot whenever we plugged into them and were off AC (and on battery only).

I called the TM factory folks and was told the early 2020 models (like mine) didn't have the 12v plugs installed, but they got complaints, and now install them. They initially thought that the USB plugs built into the AC receptacles would do it. Yes, only when you're on AC.

THE QUESTION: I am going to install 2 new 12 volt receptacles adjacent to the breaker panel and refrigerator AC plugs. This was how my 2008 was configured. Can anyone tell me what color wire to cut into (near the panel or over the refrigerator) for a continuous hot 12v (+), or is there a continuously hot post to screw a new wire into?? I will go in there and test, but I thought I could save a lot of time if I knew what I was looking for.

Cheers!

For the DC wiring black should be positive/hot, white should be negative/ground.

The radio on my unit was pre-wired for power along with the speaker wire terminations. Both are located above my refrigerator. That particular 12 vdc wire is blue. The attached thumbnails show where the blue originates from the wall on the right, in the upper refrigerator access (remove the access panel). From there blue power wire snakes to the radio location. You should be able to tap that power wire for your 12 volt receptacle.

I placed my 12v outlet on the side of the fridge compartment. I had installed a radio, but just tapped into the same power wire. If I’m dry camping I use some portable power packs verses the rig batteries. My feelings is the rig batteries should power essential systems, not my ipad or even my phone.

🤣🤣🤣 To some folks and of course kids. I’m an old fart. But I am not stupid not to have good back up power. On my last trip My friend had four teenagers and there was never enough plugs for those guys. So I gave them my 26800 power pack and they only used half the power. She was very happy to be able to kerp them out of their camper most of the time.
