Default VHB Tape in place of 3m5200 or 4200

I have decided to use the 3M vhb tape to secure the riser to the roof of the TM.
It is water proof also, but I will put a bead of superflex no sag caulking around it and bed the fantastic fan in the butyl tape and a bead around that as well.

should be a leak free vent for a long time.

I know the VHB tape holds great as I use it to secure solar panels on my popup never had a problem, except when I wanted to remove a panel. Stuff sticks great .

VHB makes a good adhesive, not sure how it will work as a sealant. Used it for the home made z brackets on my roof mounted solar panel with 5200 as an additional adhesive/caulking.

I am also going to use a non sag caulking / sealant around the edge, basically using the vhb to secure the riser and then caulk around it with the superflex was told it is equal to dicor no sag.

The new homemade riser is mounted and sealed, and let me tell ya superflex no sag sets up pretty fast, and it is some sticky stuff. it looked all pretty until I put my wet finger in it . Now the fan is not mounted yet, just sitting there for a little weight and to get off my work table.

A question to those who might have used VHB on a vent fan, I am thinking of using it (VHB tape) to secure the fantastic fan and not use the butyl tape and not drill any holes in the new riser for mounting. just the VHB and then caulk around it as with the riser.

ANY thoughts?
