I would set the temperature dial to 1, ask my wife hold down the other red button inside, and light the pilot with a match. After making sure that the pilot stays lit, reinstall the box and set the temperature dial. (If someone questions the safety of this, PLEASE chime in.)
Yes, thank you for the reminder about lighting the pilot manually. I am indeed familiar with the little box with the metal door. I will keep that in mind if I am unsuccessful. However, I am hopeful that with the part arriving later this week I can get it working properly. Thanks to all for the input and insight. I will update on my success or failure later in the week.

John -

I know it is a little late, but the item you showed for $20 in your post #5 is available at Home Depot for $12. Of course, you don't get free shipping ...

Free shipping takes on a whole new meaning these days.

Our closest Home Deephole is 21 miles from our house. That 42 miles round trip @ 17MPG for my truck is 2.5G gas @ $6.48 per gallon is $16.20 for gas (plus my time, a soda and chips for the trip). Now, you're looking at $32 to get it from the big box store. That doesn't even count the extra $100 that I would spend on crap that I don't need while I'm there.....

Thanks for checking that out. The Home Depot delivery window is estimated at July 1-5. I leave on July 6, so I'll stick with the Amazon order which is expected between this Wednesday and Friday...even if it comes a little late, I should still have a few days to spare. I hear you on the gas prices, though!

Thanks, again.

Default Update

Hi all,

My new piezo igniter switch arrived. It was very simple to replace. However, when I slid the refrigerator out a few inches to get my hand in there, I noticed a yellow wire by the control switch that is not connected to anything. I presume it must have fallen off when I slid the refrigerator out, despite there seeming to be a good amount of slack. I can't imagine it was already disconnected. Also, there are several metal contacts, so I am not sure which one this yellow wire would connect to and I don't see anything in the manual that helps me on this. Any thoughts?

I found this manual online:

https://norcold.com/wp-content/uploa...00_619127D.pdf

The last page has a wiring diagram, but the labels for the selector switch connections don't seem to match what I see on my refrigerator. Hmm.

Upon further investigation, I found a wiring diagram sticker further back on the top of the unit, so I can see where the yellow wire should be!

Now, I'll get things back together and hope it works.

Default Success!

Hi all,

Thanks for reading my updates and for your feedback earlier. Everything is back together and working great! One push of the piezo igniter switch and the pilot is one and working. Wow...the old piezo igniter switch was apparently bad since we purchased the TM and it finally bit the dust for good. It used to take quite a few attempts to get the pilot lit.

Take care,

John

Sorry that I didn't see your post sooner.

Just for other's future reference.......

You can pull the fridge out "almost" all the way out. The only thing restricting you is the length of the power cord. Even then, you can reach in and unplug the power cord when you have the fridge out far enough. The gas line is long enough for you to pull the fridge all the way out, quite some distance.

Here is the pic that would have helped you.

Glad that you figured it out. Just know that your post may help others in the future.

Thanks. I was initially trying to pull it out just enough to get my hand in there to unscrew the piezo igniter. I wasn't sure how much slack there was on the lines. It looks like the wire that came off got knocked off when it brushed against the top of the cabinet opening. Overall, this was an easy fix...much easier than replacing the drawer slides on my daughter's chest of drawers this morning!

Take care.
