Default 2000 3124 questions

Hi, I am considering the 2000 3124 in the for sale section, I have seen pics, but not the unit, we are about 3 hours away. I suspect it's too heavy for our car to tow, even going light and taking out what we can. Our car is a toyota sienna minivan, tow capacity of 3500lbs and tongue capacity of 350lbs. Has anyone towed a 3124 with a minivan?
I noticed in the pics that it needs lots of TLC and the flaps/seems where the top and bottom halves meet are torn and dirty. Can they be replaced?
I also think someone else has posted about buying this unit and I don't want to interfere with their purchase. Thank you, Reni

I wouldn't tow with your minivan. You will likely already be over 3500 just with the extras like A/c, awning, and the like and that's without all your stuff. You are going to be over tongue weight by at least 150 pounds.

I'm sure someone here will disagree. There are lots of threads on this subject. Try the search button.

It is not so much if you can tow it with that minivan, but can you stop it?

I love my TrailManor unit and I highly recommend the brand if it fits your needs. But I want you to get to your camp ground safe and sound and with any trailer regardless if it is a boat, camper, or a trailer with a load of dirt, if it exceeds or or leaves little margin to your tow capacities, the first priority of safety may be compromised.

I used to tow my 3124kb with my 04 Sienna, using a WDH. Frankly, while the flat stretches were fine (as were small hills), and even normal (and occasionally abrupt) braking was fine, I was towing over the limit (~4000-4200lbs all total) and my (I can only speak to my) auto insurance company told me I would not be covered (neither collision nor liability) if I continued to tow over limit...

So, now I'm towing with a truck.

I towed a 3124KS with a Lexus RX300 (3500 lb limit) as a test. It wasn't good. The camper was listed as about 3000 dry weight from the factory which is why I tried it. I took out everything that wasn't nailed down and it still didn't tow well.

I got a truck and it tows great. When I finally put the camper on the scales (loaded for camping) and it came out at about 4500 lbs.

Thank you all for your responses. I can see that I need a smaller trailer or a different tow vehicle to have a positive experience. I told the seller we couldn't tow the 3124 and he also agreed that my car wasn't up for it. Your site is a wonderful resource and I appreciate your help. Thank you, Reni

Hi I am the owner of the 3124 KB. As much as i would like for someone to buy my trailior because we are downsizing i would not recommend it towed unsafely. My family has enjoyed this trailmanor and we have Chevy Astro Van to pull it (It rated to pull 6,000 lbs). I do have a proposition i could sell you both the Van and the trailor.
