Default Linnen/wardrobe cabinet plastic track

So I am thinking to replace the plastic track thats used in 2720s to slide the linnen/wardrobe cabinet into place. Its starting to fail. So got to thinking to just upgrade to ball bearing metal glides instead. Has anyone ever done this?

Lastly, if not a good idea what would be a source to purchase these plastic glides? Cant seem to find it in the forum or online.

I’m curious what you come up with for a ball bearing slide/hinge. The plastic one can be purchased from the TM factory.

I replaced the same style slide on the bathroom/kitchen wall with a metal bearing drawer slide. 1-3/4" x 16" x 3/8". (Fit perfect)

You would need a longer slide i think but it should work.

Thats just it.. havent figured it out yet. I think the factory plastic one is a combination of a slide and a piano hinge riveted together so it slides and pivots.

Thank you for posting... for some reason the site wont let me zoom inti your picture. Looks as though you used rivots to connect a piano hinge for tilt into the glide. Am I reading that correctly? If so any particular pianno hinge work here or did you reuse the factory piano hinge as that part is metal

I am thinking that I may just need to remove the original plastic slide to measure its closed and open positions. Thanks for any additional info you might have on this.

On my 2720, i need a minimum of 19" of travel, so id go with a 20" drawer slide.

This would fit mine.

Yes, you got it. i drilled out the factory rivets. Transfered those holes in the factory piano hinge to the new slide and then drilled them. I then reinstalled new rivets into the old piano hinge/new slide and used the factory screws on the other side. Make sure you get a slide that has a lever to take the slide apart.

Search ebay for a "1-3/4" x 22" slide rail."

I need a minimum of 19" of travel on mine

Thank you for posting this. I was literally going to ask this question today as I'm a new member in process of refurbishing a 2007 3023 model.

No problem... joel is correct on the size you need. I picked up a 22" full extension glide x 1.75" and its perfect. I should have it installed in the TM this weekend. A fairly easy and str8 forward upgrade.

There are some areas that the factory just should not bother saving weight on. These plastic tracks just dont bear the weight of the wardrobe cabinet over time.
