On my 01' 2619, we've had a leak in the roof seam behind the awning ONLY when the unit is closed. It leaks down the door side front bedroom window and has dirtied up the curtain right there. Otherwise, water tight!

I just caulked the entire length of that seam two weeks ago, and will find out over Thanksgiving if it worked or not.

Best,

Gregg

This is an interesting thread for all of the naysayers out there that say the 2 part roof is the reason many wouldn't buy a TM. In all of these posts, I don't see where there are any comments that the shell roof seals ever leak. Rather, the leaks occur (vents, ac, etc.) around devices found on most RVs, even the big class A's.

Had to reseal the front stone guard hinge area. Water was leaking in this area and running out the front window, soaking the curtains.
The tail lights were filling up with water and draining through the back wall, coming out around the window seal. Had some soggy pillows. I drilled drain holes in the tail light lenses. No leaks now.

I have had a leak at the front top right corner of the TM. It leaks between the front cabinet and right front window. I have cleaned and sealed awning attachment and roof to side seals within a 8 ft distance and it is still leaking. The dealer tried to repair when it was under warranty, and it either showed up again or it never was fixed. I haved tried 4 more times. Nothing seems to work.

We had no leak during light rain or washing the TM. The we took it to a down pour in Georgia...and the A.C. pulled rain in....

We took our 2007 TM back 400 plus miles to the dealer for factory warranty work and they corrected the problem.

Ever see one of those "people do stupid things" commercials? No, I'm not saying what I did. Yes, it caused a leak and yes it's fixed.

Countrygirl,

Normally, with our TM completely closed there is about a 2 or 3 inch clearance under the garage door.

24 hours before our planned departure, I partially opened the TM inside the garage to crawl in and start up the fridge .... afterwards I let roof shells sort of lay flat without latching them down... probably made the TM about 12 to 18 inches taller than normal...

The next day, when it came time to pull the TM out of the garage, I got the brilliant idea, "Why close it, you'll just have to open it when you get it out of the garage"...

Fortunately I wasn't moving too fast when ....

1) Ripped off a 2"x4" x 16' cross beam on my garage door.
2) Bent one of the washers on the bolts that hold down the A/C shroud
3) Left a most visible fissure where the A/C shroud mates up to the roof
4) The force of the impact opened up the seam in middle of the front shell.

The next time it rained, I had some choice words for the build quality of my TM till the light bulb went on... duh!!!!!

"Baby" has since been to the TM factory, had it's roofline inspected and blessed.

Ed's secret formula.. silicon, silicon, silicon, ...

Mine leaked a bit through the TV antenna. turns out the boot for the wire was off. We had a bigger rain recently and it came up dry now.

I had a leak in my TV (tow vehicle) recently though. Best way to find them is to systematically use a garden hose and wet one spot at a time. Turned out to be a crack in the sunroof frame and easily fixed. Water can sure run some peculiar paths up in the headliner.
