Default Lift kit may be necessary

a) is the 2.5" the lowest lift kit (think 1 1/4-1 1/2 would be enough
b) Where/how do you buy (not in parts catalog)
c) Original axle is welded and bolted, is the welding necessary ? (Cannot get eyes near a welder)

Thank you,

I did it with 2" tube that the walls were 1/4 inch thick. Since I have air tools and several floor jacks it took between 1.5 to 2 hours, but I also repainted the exposed frame and re-did the brake wire nuts at the same time.

I had a local trailer repair shop cut the tubes and drill the holes. I think the tubes were tubing for hitches. The holes were 8" on center and I think I had them drill the holes 1/16" larger then the bolt size.

My trailer did not have the welds. I did not weld the tubes in place. I just bought some longer grade 8 bolts and reused the nuts. The new bolts were long enough to fit through the frame, the 2" tube, and the axle mounting bracket. I don't think the factory kit instructs you to weld in the new tube.

I will look and see if I can find the instructions, if I have them I will PM you to get you email address to send them to you.

I purchased a lift kit last week from the following Trailmanor Parts Supplier BUT you have to know if your bolts on the axle to frame are 6.5" or 8" center-to-center. The price for the 2.5" factory drop shipped kit was $55+$12.35 shipping. Oh, and yes mine was welded, just one small tack at each end that I removed with a belt sander.

Here is a pic of the lift kit i bought from Sanders. The holes are offset about 1/4 from center. Mine was welded so i cut the old weld with a hacksaw and welded the tube and axle with a wire feed welder. On mine the frame was slotted so I lined it up and welded so it could not slip.
