Default Smart TV. Yes or No?

We're considering getting a TV for our TM. I actually bought a Vizio Smart TV but returned it because the interface seemed unreliable. It needed some level of reprogramming every time it was turned on. Has anyone had a positive experience with a Smart TV? Which one? We will not use it to watch network TV, just Netflix and Amazon, etc. We have considered getting a non-smart TV and using it with an Apple TV or Roku or something like that.

Your experiences or thoughts?

Paul

Although I don't have experience with other devices, we really like our regular TV and Chromecast combination. I can't say that I've used it while camping but the article at http://www.alphr.com/google/google-c...st-of-google-s gives some instructions on how to do so. It seems the simplest method is to just mirror the phone display (which doesn't require wifi).

You may wish to look into Miracast and see if that works for you. I believe Chromecast only works for certain apps while Miracast literally mirrors whatever is on your phone.

I have several smart TVs and a ROKU device. Both require good wireless connectivity (works with about 75k baud but more is better). Also can connect to my Galaxy S5 with an HDMI cord.

Just be aware that HD movies can take up to 5GB of screaming data, SD movies are less than 1 GB.

Do you have "several smart TVs" in your TM?

That was the question of the OP.

Thanks for all the replies so far. My girlfri and I don't watch network TV but do like movies sometimes. We'll be spending about 2 months this summer in the TM and thought that a larger than iPad screen would be nice.

There is another solution here… Queue the movie during the day so it’s ready to watch at night when everyone else is trying to direct stream.

What did you ultimately decide to do? Are you happy with whatever you're doing now to watch tv?
