Default step cover

Has anyone used any type of cover on their steps? If so what? RV Sure Step Motion Activated Lighted Step looks kinda neat, but pricy. Nicky, our furkid slipped going out last fall and tore off a claw, so I am looking for sugestions.

The link above shows what was on my TM when I bought it second hand. It works fine, but appears to be damaged by the sun. Of course, no carpet is going to be good at that unless UV inhibited. The less sun exposure the better. The carpet could be replaced once the spring clips are owned at possibly a little less cost.

A hunk of non-skid carpet just inside the door provides a secure landing and take-off point for the dog. Even our very old and blind miniature poodle can handle it. The steps themselves are another story, but I bet the little hunks of clip-on rug that Bob suggested would be wonderful. I'm going to get a pair before our next outing.

We also use an astro-turf mat (like the Daisy Mat in Bob's link) on the ground outside the door. We used it to trap some dirt on shoes, but again, it helps the dog.

We bought what BobR showed in the Camping World link (in green ). They fit very well and help keep dirt/sand out.

Default Step carpet

I used the Jumbo wraparound rv step rug. Before putting the rug on the step put duct tape on the back of the rug where it contacts the non-skid tape on the step. The non-skid will saw a hole thru the rug (Thats what happened to my first set). I keep the step folded when stored, to keep the sun off of the rug.

Thanks all; I guess I will be ordering a couple of covers as were mentioned. I especially like the Sure Step with the motion light. I gave a few hints to DW for Christmas. I even sent her a link showing a video of them. Unfortunately, my hints were to no avail. I have seen nothing under the tree that would match that size gift. Also have not seen anything delivered to the house. :>( I just can’t justify over $100.00 for step covers for myself.
