Default Differences in year models

I have been looking locally for a used 2619 (would love the 3124 but it won't fit in my garage). There are listings for year models of 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2007. Obviously the newer models are more expensive, but are there significant design changes or improvements in the newer models that would justify paying more for that improvement, or are they all basically the same and a well cared for 2001 or 2002 would be just as good as a newer one?

Thanks

Others will add, but the main difference I can think of is that the 2007 will likely have a factory lift kit installed. This will give the ability to switch to 15" wheels, which by all accounts is a massively important change to help avoid tire blowouts. Reports of tire issues dropped dramatically when users began switching to 15" wheels and installed metal stems rather than the rubber ones, many of which had been recalled and all of which were prone to failure.

The earlier models used wood for structural inside of the walls. Thereby, when water penetrated via any type of leak, the wood was prone to rot. There does not seem to be an exact year of the change over but most here suggest 2002 or 2003.

The no-wood changeover started in the 1990's; our 1997 has very little wood in the upper shell. I haven't found any wood in the lower frame, but haven't had to drill into it except to fix some damage behind the wheelwell due to a blowout. We haven't had any problems with ours due to wood in the frame. It's still a very solid trailer. We have kept it covered and haven't abused it. How the trailer has been stored and loved makes a huge difference on how it will hold up in the future.

We have a gas only water heater and it's only 3 gallons, the newer ones are 6 gallons and also run on A/C. Our year, and I believe that until about 2001, the A/C was side mounted, which can be a plus if you're trying to get it into your garage. Ours doesn't have as many windows as the new ones, but we like it like that.

We have a Dometic refrigerator that runs like a trooper, still going strong after 16 years.

Don't be afraid of the older models, if you find one, check it out well, you may find a real gem at a much lower price.

I have owned both old and new and there are some things I like about both and some I don't. As mentioned the newer models are constructed differently (for the better), but lost a little style too. My older model had a nice glass front cupboard doors, lighter counter tops, cutting board over the sink, etc. The new model has the air conditioner in the middle (not over the bed), nicer lighting, larger wheels, etc. It all comes down to your likes and dislikes. We upgraded to a 2010 - tighter, better construction, has solar, and years of use ahead of it...we stayed with the same model.

Probably more important than model year is how it has been taken care of or not. As has been touched on in an earlier post that makes a huge differance. One could make a good argument that an older model that as been well taken care of might be a better buy than a newer model that has not been given much TLC.
Good luck!

Thank you for the replies - it really helped to know some areas to question as we shopped. I think we have found a 2009 2619 to purchase. Working on the details, but we're already excited.
