Default soft floor

I noticed after I had spent a couple of nights in my TM with my littleone that I had overlooked a soft spot in the floor in front of the stove. Is this a common area for the floor to become soft? Is this a sign of a serious problem?

No, this is not common. Can you describe the softness? In other words, does it feel shallow, as if the carpet or tile is lifting from the sub-floor? Or does it feel really deep, as if the entire floor structure is involved? The former would not be serious, and would be easily fixed. The latter would be more serious - though I have to admit I don't know how this could happen

What year and model TM do you have?

We thought we might have a "soft spot". After much stepping, poking, and looking sideways I finally decided the linoleum was just lifted up a little.

My TM is a '89 model. It feels deep, not like the flooring is lifting. The flooring is stick on 6" tiles. It's about the size spot of a 5 gallon bucket.

Did the '89s have a wood-framed floor? Actually, I think all TMs even to this day have a wood-framed floor, at least around the edges, but I'm not sure. Someone on this board ought to know. Or you can call Ed at the factory, who will know, and will know the location of the main struts. If the answer is yes, and if the softness is getting worse or is so bad that you don't want to ignore it, you might decide to slide under the TM and remove some of the aluminum sheathing to see what is going on. By the way, Ed is about the best Customer Service guy you could hope to find. If you find yourself in eastern Tennessee, stop in to see him, whether or not there is a problem.

If you find the worst of all possible situations - meaning that the floor is wood-framed AND the wood has gotten wet and is rotting - then I'm sure the factory could rebuild it for you in a day. I'm not sure you could do it yourself. And of course I don't know the cost or the time required. Again, Ed will give you the real scoop.

But that's the worst-case scenario. Ed might have some brighter news.
