which model ac do I have?
I have an '08 2720 with ac with heat strip. PO had no manuals for anything (I am tracking them down one by one )
Can anyone tell me how to determine which model of ac I might have in there without going up on the roof and pulling the shroud? I popped off the inner ceiling assembly and couldn't find anything that indicated BTU's, model numbers, or even a mfr.
It appears to be a Coleman Polar White? 9000 series? Based on the shroud configuration. (I've been google searching shroud images) See attached image... But I don't know what the specs on it are, or whether I might be able to run it on my 2300 watt generator, if I need to! I would rather only go up there once to pull the shroud to install a micro-air easy start if needed. She is currently closed up for the season so I can't go in and check again until spring (Ahh, spring! Can't wait) and I wasn't able to test it on the generator before I put her to bed because it got cold and miserable real quick by the time I got home with her last fall.
Anyone with a similar TM from that era able to chime in would be helpful. Trying to find out if I will need the easy start before I discover that I NEED the easy start! I may get one anyway, but in the interests of saving a few hundred $$'s, it would be nice to know.
In the spring I'll be going up top to check all of the seams etc, and pull the shroud to clean out the needles, leaves, etc that may have accumulated. So it would be lovely to know if I should get an easy start and install that at the same time.

More than likely a Coleman Mach III 13,500btu A/C unit. You’ll need a hardwired soft start (not the plug-in version) and even then you’ll have to budget amps/watts while running the A/C on that generator.

Does your ceiling assembly look like this? I pulled this picture off the RV Parts Country web site, for the A/C that Shane suggested.

Interesting. My 2007 3326 had a Mach III but didn’t have that interior panel. Mine had more of a grid on the bottom and two control knobs on one end; one had the red & blue swirl like a car heater knob and the other was the modes including off, fan high, fan low, cool high, cool low, heat high, and heat low. I’ll be damned if I can find a picture of it anywhere. I think the one Bill posted is the current replacement unit, but it looks different from the original.

Thanks Shane & Bill. I thought it was likely a 13.5k unit. My ceiling assembly is similar but I am pretty sure is closer to what Shane is describing.
The only time I would be running it on the generator would be as a last resort if I was stuck dry camping for a day with the dogs and absolutely needed the ac for them. I wouldn’t be running anything else on 120 since fridge, stove and water heater are all 12v / LP and I have a good sized deep cycle battery.
So i will keep my eyes open for a good deal on the Micro-air. Thanks for the info.

Is this the one Shane?
https://www.rvupgradestore.com/Colem...te-p/61365.htm. Pretty sure that’s what I have as well.

Yep that looks more like it!
I run the softstartrv in my TM. It’s pretty awesome.

Just like Shane826, I installed a SoftstartRV on my 3124KB. Most people are unaware that electric motors (fans, compressors...) can draw upwards of 5-7 time the running current while starting. It's only for a short period of time ~0.5 seconds, but that means you have to have a battery and inverter or generator that can handle that load.
On my unit I measured 51.5 amps on startup prior to installing the soft start, and 24.2 after. While running it draws 11.5 on high cool in both cases.

Ordered a Micro-Air
Decided to bite the bullet and I have a Micro-Air Easystart coming. I'll add it to the growing pile of "install in spring" jobs.
I think no matter what ac I have (unless it was the old Mini-Mach I found and installed in my Bigfoot. 7100 BTU!! Started and ran easily with my Honda 2000) I would need a softstarter of some kind. No point in waiting to find out when the weather gets hot!
