Bottom door Jack Lock not latching

The pin on the door jam is 1/8" too tall. I spend 10 minutes trying to muscle this piece into the latch. I push up on the door, I pull down on the jam. It's extremely difficult to achieve this connection with one person.

Anyone else had this problem? Is there an easy solution.
