Default Garage storage Question

Ok I am having some difficulty in finding an answer to my question, so I thought I would turn it over to the forum EXPERTS .

On the closed length dimensions (22 ft, or 24, etc) does that already include the length of the tongue? Or is the tongue an extra 2 feet? So like a 3124 TM is actually 26 feet?

Or in other words, if my garage is 22’4” from back wall to garage door, would it fit a 3124 TM? Meaning that if I had a sway tongue that “removes 2ft from length”, it would make the 3124 TM storage length actually 22 feet?

I would really appreciate y’all’s help. Thank you!

The second two digits is the closed length, bumper to coupler, plus or minus a few inches. If you have the swing tongue you can knock 2ft off that number. For example my 3326 is 26ft 4in when closed.

Ready to have your mind blown? The first two digits are NOT the actual open length. It’s the “equivalent trailer size”. Most camper list their total length, including the A-frame. Since a TrailManor extends forward over that A-frame, they then add that A-frame length back on to come up with a length comparison. So my 3326 has the living space equivalent to a 33ft camper, but in fact the total length is about 29ft 6in. A little marketing sleight of hand on TM’s part.

As soon as my TM gets out of hibernation, I too will be making an EXACT measurement of the trailer. I was curious as to it's actual dimensions. As as a guy who has been in and around the RV biz for a long while I can tell you that all the manufacturer play fast and loose with the "facts". The only thing you can be sure is pretty accurate is the DOT weight ratings.

It'll be very tight. I don't have one so I can't give you a true measurement. Hopefully someone here will be able to do so for you.

We have a 3124KB built in September 2021.
Garage is 272 inches deep.
TM is 22' 1.5 inches with the hitch in the shorter 'open' position.
We have a rubber parking lot curb installed to limit how far back the TM can be pushed so it does not hit the wall.
The curb keeps it 5 inches from back wall. (4 inches would have been better, 3 would work, leave space in case it rides up on the curb due to momentum).
This leaves 1.5 inches from opened hitch to inside of garage door.
I have 1/2 inch trim on bottom of garage door so it any contact between door hand hitch hits the trim.
We always push the TM the the last 4 feet into and outside of the garage. This is easy to do on a level surface.

For the 3124, the 2.5 inch lift kit is highly recommended if you have the height available in your garage. When we brought the 3124 home the first time it bottomed out at the front and back at the bottom of our driveway. This is less of an issue with the shorter versions.

Just to confirm. The second pair of numbers in the model number ("24" in 3124) is the nominal closed length from the back of the back bumper to the nose of the hitch. For my 2020 2720QS, the actual measurement is 20 ft 3 inches.

If you have the swing hitch, it shortens the overall length by 2 feet (nominal). For my 2720, it actually shortens it by 1 foot 11 inches.

My 2619 fits in a 20 foot garage by a gnat's eyelash (meaning I have to position the tongue so that the hinges on the garage door don't hit it).

It's a 2001 so the spare tire is on the back and adds 6 inches or so of length. My fallback plan was to remove the spare, but I *just* didn't have to.

My garage is unfinished. If it was sheetrocked, the trailer probably wouldn't fit without removing the spare.

I just went out with a tape measure. Our 2009 2720SL is 19'10.25" from the tip of the trailer coupler to the end of the rear bumper. Our's has the swing away tongue so, if I had to, I could shorten that by 2'. It would fit neatly into an 18' garage.
