Default Toilet

Toilet doesn’t fill up. Just drinks straight through. I’ve turned on the pump but toilet won’t charge and water lines leak.

You will see a slide handle at the base of the toilet. That slide should be pushed all the way in.

You have to prime the toilet by hand. You can use a 1G jug or you can use the shower. Put water in until the water circulates when you push the flush button. That takes just over 2 gallons of water.

It would help a lot if you would add the year/model of your TrailManor in your posts.

Thank you. I did push the slide in and primed it. It’s leaking at the base. It’s a 1999 2720SL. Thank you again, greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the slide seal may be leaking. It could just be dirty.

Put a 5G bucket under your outside dump valve. If there is just prime water in the toilet, open the outside valve and allow the water to flow. Dump that in your home toilet then open the inside valve (base of the toilet) and let it flow into the bucket. Close the inside valve and put 4G of water in it and dump it.

That may clear the seal if it was just mucked up with debris. If that doesn't do it, try putting dishwasher soap (NOT dish soap) in a bucket with hot water. Mix it well and dump it in the toilet. Let it sit over night then dump and rinse again.

If it still leaks after that, the seal may have to be replaced.

You're not expecting to see standing water in the bottom of the toilet bowl, as in your home toilet, are you? The recirc toilet doesn't work that way. As you try to fill the toilet, how fast does the water drain through? As fast as you put it in? Or slowly, over some period of time?

If it is leaking at the base, meaning water comes out on the floor, then Wavery is probably right - the slide seal is leaking, and may need to be replaced. This assembly is called the Slide E-Z valve. It can be purchased as a kit, and is easy to replace once you have lifted the toilet off the floor. There is an article in the TM Tech Library detailing how to do this.

If the outside dump valve is closed, and the big drain pipe below the floor fills up due to the leaky Slide E-Z valve, and if the water level rises to the point where it has reached the Slide E-Z valve, then the seal between the toilet outlet and the drain pipe, usually called the foam donut, may also be leaking. If so, it also needs to be replaced. It is unlikely that this is the direct cause of the problem, but a new one costs only a couple bucks, and is worth putting in place once you have access to it.
