Default Replace 20# horizontal LP tanks with 30#

I just picked up my 2720SL, and a previous PO ditched the horizontal tanks and ran with 20# verticals that he carried separately. I suspect it was because the frame is a little bent from a previous jack-knife and maybe the 2 horizontals didn't fit properly anymore? MY PO didn't know - he just ran with separate 20# tanks as well.

Anyway... I would like to go back to a horizontal tank. I was thinking about going to a single 30# vs 2 x 20# (waiting to check the cost on a 30#er). Would be less weight than 2x20# on the tongue, and I know that 30# would last me quite a long time. I generally stay with full hook-ups if i can (dogs need the a/c in the summer where I travel - and so do I TBH). 20# would last a fair bit, but if a 30#er would fit in the allotted space, I would go for it. Diameters of both are the same, so clearance wouldn't be an issue for the front slider.

Has anyone ever swapped in a 30# horizontal tank? If the cost isn't a lot more, and it will fit, I'll do a 30# tank. If not, I will likely just stick with a single 20#er - save weight (and $ on the initial outlay). I don't really have space to carry my LP tank separately - on the tongue is it. I'm sure there is a way to mount the tanks on the tongue and then remove them when I get to the site - but I would rather not if I can get away with it.

Kinda spendy. Best price I see is around $300 including shipping, and they go up from there. Wow!

Of course, 20 pound horizontal tanks are around $100 apiece.

If your TM's frame is bent a little, I bet an automotive frame shop could straighten it enough.

The 20#ers are $225 plus shipping on a good day up here so I知 afraid to see what a 30# might be.
But good idea on the auto shop regarding the frame. I値l take some good quality shots and see what the word is. Thanks

I googled "20 pound horizontal propane tanks" and got hits with prices ranging from $100 to $500. Many seemed to be in the range of $250, as you suggested. Who knows why the difference?

This was one of the hits in the $100 range.

I did the same for 30 pound horizontal tanks, and again got a wide range of prices.

Good luck.

This seller seems to have a bunch of them. I just ordered 2. $175 each isn't that bad. Some sellers are selling them for $400 each.

That one is a scam. Lots of those going around lately... like piles of Honda eu2000i generators for $50 each...... send him $50 and see what you get...

From what I see $225 Cdn is a pretty decent price for a horizontal tank. My thoughts are I値l go with a single 20# and use my little 5#er for the bbq and a back up if I run low on the main tank.

A little more Googling on my part would have revealed that you are probably right. I apologize for posting the link without checking it out. I normally visit TrustPilot before recommending, and this time I got ahead of myself.

Thanks, Wavery.

LOL!! Standard rule of thumb....."If it looks too good to be true, it probably isn't".
