1993 Ford Club Wagon With 5500 lb limit?

We have a 1993 Ford Club Wagon HD with a tow limit of 5500 lbs. Giant vehicle with little tow capacity. We are looking at purchasing either the 3142KB or the 3326KS and both appear to be under 4,000 with options I would think. We hope to get off of the major highways and flat terrain so does anyone have an opinion on what our mobility would be with this set-up? The van is in perfect shape but we realize that we face replacing it in the future or major upgrade/repair. Thanks, Cathy
