Additional 12v outlets
The Trailmanor is woefully short of 12 volt outlets in my opinion. These days, with Tablets, Smartphones, rechargeable lights and so on, you need more than the two outlets that the factory provided. I decided to add a few. I wanted two in the rear sleeping area and two in the couch area. The challenge with the TM is that the wiring is not easily accessible everywhere and with the shells closing down over the base there are additional concerns for placement. This post just shows the two outlets in the couch area as the rear area is loaded with "stuff" as we get ready to go off on a summer trip.
The two boxes that I made for the outlets mount on top of the table boxes and are sized to have ample room for wiring and to provide a platform for a phone to rest on. They are made of pecan wood and Formica. I tapped power for these from the 12volt supply to the heater fan. Since we only go North in the summer and rarely need heat in NE Florida it seemed like a good place to pick up power as it is a little use during circuit. Should I need to run the heater, I can simply charge devices in a different outlet. The wires are easy to conceal stapled behind the couch structure and up inside the table box. Both supply wires are fused in-line near the connection to the fan supply so that they are protected independently of the heater circuit which uses a fuse larger than I'd like for the outlets. I was able to screw the boxes on to the table area from below so there are no fasteners in view.
In another post, I'll show how I installed outlets in the rear shell. THEY were a challenge, but I'm pleased with the result.
