Default Bristol Gray Water Blade Valve

In the process of checking out the plumbing system on the 2004 2720SL TM I bought last December, I noticed the gray water valve was dripping. Its a Bristol 1.5 inch V15 valve. I can't see a model number on it.
Are there parts available (seals) for this thing or do I buy a new valve? I noticed that there are 4 screws & nuts securing the valve. I could try to tighten the screws but don't want to break something by over torquing. I found this site on the internet..

Is this the valve? I keep getting Valterra hits from my search for "Bristol 1 1/2 " valve". Are these valves interchangeable?

Many times the valve simply needs a disassembly, cleaning and recoating the gaskets with lube recommended by the valve manufacturer. You may simply have some debris clogging part of the valve guides.

Unhappy Has Anyone Replaced Their 1.5 Inch Gray Water Valve?

I yanked the Bristol 1.5" waste water valve and quickly discovered the reason for the leak. The left hand seal was missing . After an extensive search on the WEB, I could only find one source for 1.5" Bristol seal kits and shipping plus a small order fee would have been close to $30.00. No way!

Has anyone replaced their 1.5 inch Bristol gray water valve. Will a Valterra 1.5" fit..they seem more plentiful than Bristols.

Unless they are noticeably loose (finger tight or less), I would not try to torque down the four mounting screws. This is not a pressurized plumbing connection, and a very modest amount of force should serve to seal the mating faces.

If the seal in the slide blade housing is actually missing, a new valve is probably the easiest way to go. It would guarantee that everything is new, everything fits, there are no cuts or rough edges - and it is only $13.

As for your question "will a Valterra valve work", the best way to answer it is probably to remove the old one (remove the four screws) and take it to the parts department at any RV place to compare with a Valterra. If the price is too high, you may not choose to buy it there, but you will answer your question.

Default Found 1.5" Bristol Valve

Bill,
Thanks. I finally found a vendor for a 1.5" Bristol valve and ordered it. I will compare it to a Valterra for future reference.
