Cool Structure change

We have a 2518KS my husband wants to cut into the panel under the kingside bed and put in a hinge door so we can access the storage area that you would normally have to access from the outside.
I am concern on a Structure change. He plans on putting support in a square around the cut out door. So it would be a framed door.
I appreciate input on this.

A door can easily be installed in there. It just has to be properly framed, like framing a door on a house. If he has to remove any vertical studs, he will need to put a header above the door and a vertical stud under both ends of the header.

Default structure change

Thanks for the reply. I feel a little better on him adding the door. Just concern that it could affect the structure. We love our trailmanor.

I have no idea what kind of skills that your husband has but I thought that I might clarify what a "header" is.

The way that wall is made is that there are vertical supports (called studs) that carry the load of the edge of the bed to the floor of the trailer so that the bed doesn't collapse. That way when you climb into bed, your weight is totally supported. When even one of those of those vertical supports (studs) is removed, the wall will not support the weight as well as it did with the stud in place and that could result in damage.

To offset that support, one must use a "header". The header is a board that is strong enough to carry all of the weight as the original design (with all of the studs in place). Therefore (in your case), he may want to use a 2x4 and it should be fastened at the very top, where the removed stud was fastened and the header should be supported under each end of the stud by at least the same size stud that was removed. Then a full length stud should be fastened at both ends of the header.

Here is a picture of a shed that I designed and built a few years ago. There is a door with a header above the door (right side of drawing) to support the weight of the roof and the supporting studs. Hope this helps.
