Default Fantastic Fan

Folks,

As most of you already know, the Fantastic Fan is sold in RV supply stores and installed by many manufacturers, including TM. I have never heard of any problems with this device.

I got home this afternoon and backed the TM into the driveway. We always open it up to unpack some things. When we raised the front shell, I was surprised to see a black knurled knob lying on the part of the rear shell that is covered by the front shell when it is in the closed position.

It turned out to be the knob that raises the plastic lid on the Fantastic Fan. It had fallen off during our trip home. We had just used it that morning to vent gasses while heating the kettle on the stove top.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Tom

Yes, it has happened to me, but since I own an Elkmont, I found the knob on the bathroom floor, along with the screw that holds it in place.

It happened to me too. Got to a camp site and opened up trailer. Discovered after setup that the fantastic fan was missing its knob. I was happy to find the knob and screw sitting on top of the rear shell. (If the campsite had been level I might have noticed the knob before setup.)

Ditto.......

I put Locktite on the screw when I put it back in. The screw obviously just vibrated loose.

Another tip.......the grille on the front of our furnace used to be sitting on the floor every time that we towed the trailer.

I cut 2 pieces of 3/16" plastic tubing about 3/4" long (making "crush sleeves"). I put the screws through the furnace grille then slipped the plastic tubing over the screws (with a dob of silicone sealer). I screwed the grille on and haven't had an issue since.

When I unscrew the grille, the plastic crush sleeves stay on the screws and the screws stay with the grille.
