Got no suggestions but TC is defiantly a hot spot for tourism. You should have no problem finding someplace nice.

As a student I hiked in that area, and it was beautiful. But that was ages ago.

A lot depends upon how you like to camp. Full hook-up? Or .... ?

Isn't Sleeping Bear Dunes nearby? IIRC there's also a National Forest nearby.

There should be lots of possibilites. Like Beak12 says, Google is your friend.

I have placed several links for finding CG's in this link. Others have added to it.

I have googled and searched many sites, and all those on this forum and have AAA camp books and the Trailer Life Directory and am a Good Sam member and also have looked at KOA. Just thought someone might have camped in the area & could recommend something. That is why I posted. There are good campgrounds and there are bad campgrounds. Privately owned campgrounds are pricey and you have to book to the dates they offer. One in particular, I can't book from Sat to Thurs but I can book from Fri until Wed. Or a Monday til check out on Fri. Interesting. They set their own dates for you to camp.
A friend has recommended the Traverse City State Park. State parks usually have more space and this one is right across from the lake.
Thanks for the replies.

It has been so many years since I camped there that I don't remember campground names. However I would make two suggestions:

1. In that part of the country a snack food called "cheese curds" is very popular, and very good. They are little lumps of various types of cheese left over from the cheese making process. If you like cheese, these things are delicious. We loaded several bags into our truck camper's fridge and ate them off and on for two weeks.

2. Drive out on the penensula. Very pretty and in mid summer there are many stands selling fresh cherries. Again, delicious.

Also called "squeaky cheese", because chewing it makes a squeaking sound.
