Default deadbolt for TM 96' 3326 king

Does anyone know what I need to do to get a dead bolt on my new used TM.  Where to purchase and how to have it installed?

I don't know of any TM owner who installed a "dead bolt" on an entrance door but some of us have put on a cam-type of cabinet lock. Last year, for example, I installed such a lock on the upper half of my door. It enables me to lock the upper half with a key from the outside. Since the upper half laps over the lower half, both doors are kept shut with this additional lock.

I've seen in the links forum Civil_War_Buff has installed a deadbolt on on the *lower* door; purchased it from Lowes I think he said.  Might send him a messege or do a search to see if he posted details (I did not check to see if he did).

I'm not sure what a deadbolt offers in security...

My wife can snake her hand in through the flap and open the upper door.  We practiced this in case we ever get locked out.

I'm also pretty sure I could get into the locked door with a little muscle applied in the right locations since the shells and doors all articulate in various directions.

A cam-type of cabinet lock installed on the upper half of our door locks the entire door since the upper half overlaps the lower one. Even if you were able to slip a skinny arm all the way inside and reach the cam, you would not be able to rotate it and force open the door.

Larry Loo,

The whole "cam" thing kind of blew over my head until I started thinking about it some more (I can be slow -- took you mentioning it twice in this thread before I got it). Makes sense. Did a search and found your post from around a year ago (link below):

Also a link to the c8060 .pdf diagrams from the manf.:

Looks like the photos section of this site is taking posts again, so if you are so inclined (and have the time) some photos of this mod would probably be helpful to more than one of us. If not, and you can email them to me, I can try to post, or put them on a small site I have have and will post a link here.

Thanks!

Kevin
