Two other techniques have been posted since 2005.

Leave the exterior valve closed and pull the lever at the floor on the front of the Thetford. This will fill the drain pipe. You won't gain much, but you will gain some. I routinely do this.

Someone rerouted the drain pipe fro the Thetford across to the curbside and then back. The volume of this extra pipe adds some additional capacity. This requires modification of the drain pipe. I am not interested in messing with the drain pipe, so I have not adopted this technique.
