Just a thought, I have no idea if it's feasible or not...
If he went to a custom frame shop could they custom design a removable hitch section that would shorten the frame by more than 2'?

We made the A-frame removable on my 3326, takes almost 30” off. It’s not quick and easy like the swing tongue but it worked to out the camper in the garage for the winter (I’ve since lost the garage space to my wife’s electric Nissan Leaf). Can it be done? Yes. But make damn sure whoever is doing the work is a REALLY good welder who understands loads and forces on the trailer going down the road. You might even have trouble finding a shop willing to take on the liability.

Ah. Yep. Only thing more annoying is when the original poster is trying to solve a problem and not only do they not reply, but by not replying they never say what fixed their issue.
