We just have the screen we made to fit the upper door opening which makes the small door window a non issue. It works GREAT & gives a very open feeling.
Is there anyone using a screen that still sees a need for a bigger window in the door?

We have the screen but still see advantages with a bigger window. We also like the idea of actually being able to see out of it. Plus, it's all or nothing with the screen in place.

Pearly -
As you were cutting the hole bigger, did you encounter any stiffeners / ribs / studs / braces / etc inside the door structure? Or was it just sheet aluminum two sides, with foam between?

Hi Bill,
It was so easy to cut w/a jigsaw & metal cutting blade! Only problem was cleaning the million styroballs from everywhere including me! LOL! There were no obstructions at all! The door seems to have more integrity now than before! Even with the big hole in it, it did not get flimsy!
Thanks to everyone for your comments! It is truly a simple DIY project!

Great job.
In picture #4, I noticed that the roller wheel at the top left of your door is not rotated over the corner of the door. This is important so as to protect the awning from tears when it is deployed.
