Default Water Heater Replacement..

I have a 1999 2720 and believe I need to replace the water heater... the delima is... the manual says I need a 3 gal but the actual water heater looks more like the 6 gal suburban water heater. I know there is a difference in depth.... but could the previous owner replaced the 3 gal with a 6 gal? Would there be a problem if I replaced with another 6 gal? Im pretty sure its bad, we tried several times to light (even without water ) and nothing..

Do you have any repair places you can go? It seems very unlikely the whole thing would have to go. It could be a safety device or even blockage of some sort.

Can you see any model number or serial number info on it? I'd trust what's in it rather than what's printed.

You're posting in the Elkmont forum....which is fine with me, but you would likely get a lot more help by posting this in the "Plumbing" forum..good luck with your repair!!

A bit more detail would help. Have you tried it on both gas and electric? Are you sure the tank was full when you tried it on electricity? Have you EVER tried to light it on electricity when the tank was not completely full? You basically have two completely separate systems to heat the tank.

There is, of course, a shutoff valve in the gas line very near the heater. Have you found it, and confirmed that it is on?
