Default 30 amp fuse replacement

I've made a list of suggestions from this forum that, one-by-one, I'm doing to my 3124kb. Just got around to replacing the glass 30 amp main fuse at the battery with a blade fuse. And what did I discover in the process?

Well, I followed the line from the 30 amp glass fuse and in a short distance found ANOTHER 30 amp glass fuse which led to the electric tongue jack! Going back to the two wires coming off the positive battery terminal, I found the lead from the TM going direct to the battery with no fuse at all.

At least I had a well protected tongue jack.

On my Elkmont, the single + leadgoes to the battery fuse which then goes to a Wire nut which is really the Positive DC bus. From there the DC loads should fan out, each with it's own fuse, like the Jack and to converter.

What I would like to do is replace the whole thing with a tiny breaker box. The 30-40A battery breaker would feed the + DC bus and there would be breakers going to the jack, solar panels controller and converter.

I can't believe they boloxed up your installation like that. Wait a minute, yes of course I can ...

I found the same on my Elkmont. No fuse although the wire schematic called for it. When I phoned TM I was told that no fuse was needed. There was one one the lead to the electric jack. I had to email them their own copy of the schematic before they would listen. I use a 30 amp breaker.
