Dometic fridge problem
Our Dometic Rm2333 freezer section is working fine, but the refrigerator section is not cooling. Any suggestions appreciated!

Forgive me if this is a dumb question - but after starting the refrig, how long did you wait before deciding it wasn't working? These absorption-type refrig mechanisms are very slow to cool. The common procedure for checking it is to turn it on, then wait at least two hours, then put your hand on the floor of the freezer. At this point, you should feel some coldness, but not arctic freezing.
It will take several more hours for the cold to penetrate noticeably into the refrig compartment. That's why it is always wise to turn the unit on to pre-cool it the night before loading it for a trip.

Dometic fridge problem
Thanks for the reply Bill. I have gotten a bit more experience with the problem. Overnight on AC set at 5 all is well in fridge and freezer when we load and head out to camp in very warm for Colorado daytime mountain temps (high 80's). Gas ignition at the campsite goes well into the green. The freezer keeps stuff frozen, but the refrigerator section does not keep things cool, even though I turn up to max. I have tried to get to the burner nozzle to get it cleaned and possibly replace parts, but unable to figure out how to do this. My fridge is the Dometic RM2333.
Thanks again,
Paul

I'm trying to figure out how the freezer can work so well, but the refrig can fail. There is only one cooling mechanism in the unit, and obviously it works as intended, so I don't think burner cleaning will help much. Perhaps the refrig door isn't sealing well, and the cold is escaping. Have you done the dollar bill test all around? A new door seal might be in order.

Where is the thermostat clip on the fins inside the fridge? Also does it have a drain outside? Sometimes the end falls off that tube, allowing warm air in faster than the fridge can cook.

A friend of mine has this exact problem. I’ve read this can be caused by an obstruction in the cooling unit, and that sometimes it can be rectified by removing the fridge and laying it on its side overnight. Apparently that helps the blockage resorb into solution.

I want to echo Dave's comment. I'm sure I read the same thing on the forum, but can't find it.
I'm not a fan (pun not intended) of using those kinds of fans. When not needed, ya toss them in a drawer and if you don't use it for whatever time frame the battery could leak, which sucks. I've been using a 4" usb powered fan with a small battery pack. I can use the battery pack for other needs and it's rechargeable.
If you do take Dave's suggestion, let us know if it helped.

We've been using the same cube fan for years. The temp in the fridge stays nice and even.
We do take the batteries out when we shut down the fridge. The USB cable to a portable phone charger is a great idea. I have a few of those laying around.

I'm going to replace the door seal; it could only help a 22 year old fridge. Thanks, Bill!
