Tapes, caulks and sealants
Silly question. With the amzn sale, what outdoor tape, sealant would be my best choice? Bytel, leveling or non leveling?

If you can get your hands on some I highly recommend Eternabond tape.

We use 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 at work and it works great once you get used to how it hangs. It will run down if you go heavy but come back every half hour and push it back in place if needed. Cleans up nice with acetone.
I cut most of the silicon off the tm and used the 3m 5200. Its hard but flexible and paint sticks to it.

What are you sealing?
I have always preferred Dicor products for RVs. Self leveling on horizontal surfaces and Non-leveling on vertical.
3M 5200 is designed for marine use. It takes about 60-90 days to fully cure. Once cured, it is pretty much permanent. I used that to bed the stanchions, windows, chain-plates and railings on my yacht. When I was at sea one time (off the coast of South Africa), a motor mount broke on my 100HP ford-Lehman diesel. I could not find one anywhere in the world so I made a casting from the old one and poured 3M 5200 into the casting. I let it set for 90-days then installed it. That mount was still on there, 10-years and about 50K miles later (when I sold the boat). I love the stuff but it's a bit much for RV use (IMO).

I used it on the outside seams after cleaning all the silicone off. I just laid an 1/8" bead on the joints. It layed down nice in this heat.
I wont ever have to worry about it failing like silicon. Overkill? Yes.. Lol.

Do yourself a big favor. Don't touch or move the trailer for at least 20-30 days. If the joint is moved at all, it loses most of it's bond. That's the hard part of using 5200. I love the stuff but you have to be aware of it's vulnerabilities.

I am going to replace a break/tail light, https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Lig...ll-description
Any tips on removing the old sealant? Also what is the proper sealant to use for the new light? ( I see the current one is very smooth and even all the way around, what technique did they use to do such a clean job?)
