Question Tongue Jack

Has anyone ever replaced the steel pin mounted on the crank handle of the tongue jack? This pin engages a gear that turns another flat gear that raises the tube up or down. This is an Atwood, sidewinding jack with 1000 lb capacity, mounted on a TM 2619. The local RV store sells the pins ($1.95) so I'm guessing that there is a way to do this. Is there more than one size pin?
