Default Rubber strip on curb side

Hi all, I have a 2005 3023 and it has a rubber strip on the rear shell on the curb side, it kinda pushes the shell out when I am closing it, it looks like its been there for a while. I am new to the TrailManor so I am wondering what purpose this serves and if anyone else has this strip on there Trailmanor, I have a picture of it with an outline in red to show the actual strip. Can I remove this thing if its not stock??
