AC placement
When did TM move the AC from inside to top mount?

The A/c on the 2720 & 2619 models was changed from a side mount to a top mount on the front shell sometime during the 2002 model year. The 3134 and 3326 models had a top mount on the rear shell prior to 2002. I'm not sure where to A/C was on the older 3023 models. The 3023, 3124 and 3326 models have the top mount A/c on the front shell from 2002 on.

I recently purchased a 2004 2619 and the AC is on the side (across from the bathroom), not on the roof. Brand new unit with remote control!

Only if a previous owner installed it there. TM stopped putting AC in the side in 2002. I believe that 2001 was the last year. There may have been some in 2002.

Thx harveyrv, I actually wondered about that. Glad to have a new AC, but may see what it would take to get it back on the roof (curiousity). There's now a vent/fan where it used to be. Previous owner may have done this to save money.

I doubt that $ was the issue. The roof A/C doesn't really cost that much.
He may have installed the A/C in the side because he dry camped and wanted an A/C unit that would run on a smaller generator.
Do you have pics of the camper and the installation? It would be quite difficult to make a good side A/C installation in an '04. The pre-2002 TMs were designed for the side A/C. I installed one in the side of my '98 2720. It wasn't hard because the trailer was designed for it. The '04 isn't.

I have a 2002 2619 (that was built in August 2001). This was probably one of the last TMs to use the side located units. The AC is mounted across from the bathroom door. This is the original unit, and cools minimally, and I lose scarce cabinet space. When it 'goes' I'll replace it with something a little more stout. I think the roof mounted units do a better job of cooling, with better air circulation. I cn see why the factory chose to move the air conditioner!

I had a 1998 3023 which had the AC on the top of the rear shell. Factory installed.
