Default Check your emergency brake cable!

I happened to be looking at the electrical for the emergency brake module and noticed that someone had routed the cable that leads to the hook up over the frame in a way to make the cable dangle less. In the process the cable will pull on the module in a perpendicular direction. In the event of a disconnect, activation of the module might not be guaranteed before the module gets ripped apart.

Give yours the once over next time you head out.

Happy New Year.

I route my cable up and over the top of the frame on its way to the truck.

But, my module is mounted pointing up about 30 degrees, so it is reasonable, I think, for mine to be routed that way. If I routed it under the frame, it would be pulling down at close to 90 degrees.

Good point, though, to pay attention to the angle of the cable relative to the module.

Default Need to replace my brake cable

I noticed that my cable was very worn from dragging on the road. I had to splice it and I think that I need to replace it. To stop it from dragging on the road, I installed a small bungy around the leveling jack post and slide the cable behind it. Any slight tug on the cable will release it.
