Default Battery Negative

Found out today that the battery on front of a 3023 TM must be connected to the frame from the negative of the battery. My back-up lights were not working and was testing and looking at the manual and happen to see that in the line schematic that it was never hooked-up. It's hooked-up now The problem with the back-up lights turn out to be a bad Bargman 7 -circuit trailer end ! The Rip

Your TM battery hookup - or even a complete lack of a TM battery - should have no effect on the TM's backup lights, which are powered directly from the tow vehicle. Keep looking at that Bargman connector.

Default Battery - Negative Lead

When I initially installed the Trimetric meter shunt in the negative battery lead I didn't move the ground wire going to the frame. What I found out is there was a significant amount of current flowing through the wire connecting the negative battery terminal to the frame.

In the case of my TM the bare wire was crimped onto a lug with a poor mechanical connection. I soldered the wire to the lug so it would be a better electrical connection to the frame.
