Is it time to replace your rubber
I am replacing the rubber pads that the shell rest on when closed as I have a a couple that are split in half . So it's time for new rubber. I bought a 6" x 6" rubber block of Amazon for 5.00 bucks I think it was a good price. I will include a link to it as well as some pics

Did you get all 4 out of one block? What did you cut it with?

Yes, I got all 4 and I have enough for another. I used a new razor blade in a utility knife, just kept making passes through it.
I guess others must have bought , as the quantity started at 12 left now down to 6 on the amazon site

I bought a sheet of hard rubber from Grainger - very reasonable priced and it made a set plus 2 spares. Cut it with a utility knife.

They doubled the price at Amazon since I bought it. I paid 5.44 but Amazon prices seem to change all the time.

Can you recall what Durometer rating rubber you used, and was it neoprene?
Never mind about the Durometer rating, saw that on Amazon link, but would neoprene be OK instead of Styrene Butadiene?

I had the same question and found this chart.

Neoprene looks like a reasonable choice. I've got a sheet on order. Amazon has a bewildering selection, but a lot of it 'ships in one to two months'.

I found some tire tread along the highway and picked it up. I can make many of the bumpers from it, now. Free. Of course, I drive a whole lot, so I see the scrap every week, and am not towing anything when I see it.

I did the same thing this past weekend. DH then cut out the shape with a hacksaw. Used RV Goop to glue them down and screwed them on. A couple of the previous screws had broken off so he just drilled another hole in the frame. Perfect and FREE!
