Teshonsha Brake Controller
What setting do most of you use for the brake controller, I have mine set on 9.0, when moving and using the the manual lever and no vehicle brakes I can feel the TM brakes applying. I read somewhere that 6.0 was the optimum setting.
At 6.0 I can barely feel the TM brakes, does this mean I need to adjust the brakes. Someone said the brakes should be adjusted every 5000 miles, advice please, thanks.

My P2 seems to vary depending on how hard I brake, from .9 to 9. Are you supposed to adjust something ?

My IQ has two different settings for setting it up.
One is 1 -3 or 4, which is determined to the trailer vs TV size. I use 1 or 2 for that
The boost I set up per the instructions but most of the time it is around 7.5 and I don't get the jerk but feel like the trailer is doing it's share. But if I hit heavy traffic, I try to push it up to 8.5 to 9.5 and I get the jerk feeling.

Yep, there are 2 adjustments. One for the trailer to TV size and the other for brake power to trailer adjustment. http://www.tekonsha.com/support/installation/N90885.pdf
I use the b.1 for the first adjustment and about 7.5 for the second. But each TV/trailer will be different.

Seems your question is not being answered, every 5000 miles at least, or when needed. Depends on usage not miles , you may be rarely using them on the highway for long distances. Every situation will be different, there is no wrong or correct answer
Your setting will not be the same as most others due to TV and habits.

I'n not sure where you read this, but there is no optimum setting. The proper setting depends on your particular trailer, which makes sense, I think you'll agree. Heavier trailer + smaller brakes (that's the TM) means a higher setting. If the trailer weighed 1000 pounds less, or had 12" brakes instead of 10" brakes, or had dual axles (4 brakes), then a lower setting would be better.
I think that most of us use a very high setting on our TMs.
