Default For those who've enjoyed my photos...here are a couple of Pikes Peak...

at some of the mountain's more dramatic moments. Was going through the pics I've uploaded over the past year or so and thought I'd share with this nature loving crowd.

This one was taken at dawn early last November just as as a winter storm was moving in.

And this one was taken near the end of May last year after a late spring snowstorm gave the peak a fresh coat of gleaming snow. I particularly like the alpenglow colors that occur just at sunrise.

Pikes Peak (14,110) is sometimes called "America's Mountain" because a trip to the top of the mountain in 1893 was what inspired poet Katherine Lee Bates to pen America The Beautiful (http://www.fuzzylu.com/falmouth/bates/klbnotes.html)

Incidentally, the vantage point for both of these photos is my bedroom window at my home in Colorado Springs. Peeking out the window when I get up each morning is often quite a visual treat. ;D (I live on "the fruited plain", BTW )

Ray:

Here I am, at work, wasting time, looking at your picss -- keep hearing John Denver singing in my head. Gotta come out there and bust your camera!!

If anyone ever asks why buy a camper and go camping -- your photos are a doctoral thesis. Thanks for sharing with us and making us envious. Keep smelling that sweet mountain air.
