Default 12 Volt TVs

If I get a Jensen or Furrion 12 volt TV, can I plug it into the regular outlet in my TM and not kill it if I am connected to shore power and thus getting 120 volts to the outlet?

You can plug it into the 12v accessory plug ( cigarette lighter plug) that is set aside for the TV located under the counter where the coaxial cable connection is. The on board converter/inverter will do its job and supply 12v to that plug when the TM is connected to the park power or shore power. Or the on board 12v battery will power the TV but will drain the battery over a period of time.

If you are asking if you can use the 110 (household wall plug), then no. The TV will only work with shore power. No shore power, no converter.

I just found that there are accessories sold that convert 120 volt to 12 volt for the two brands I am looking at as well: Furrion and Jensen. Both say they are engineered for RVs (extreme temps and more rugged in the RV environment. Not sure if that is just hype. Any thoughts from all of you on whether I should look at others?

I really need to learn to look more closely at my TM before posting....not only do I have a 12 volt plug option at the end of my kitchen cabinet (sink side), but there is also one right next to the king bed. So, 12 volt all the way. Now I just need any advice on brands in 2015.

A couple of things to think about Funpilot. Any new TV will work. An RV specific TV? Sounds like a seller hype. Unless you are using the TV while towed, or outside in a harsh environment, I can't see how a standard home TV is any less worthy. I use a 19" model that sits on the counter. Some here have temporary mounted a flat screen type on the kitchen/bath wall next to the sink.

With any TV, you'll need access to the coaxial connector. With the 12v plug near the King bed, a length of cable will need to be run back to the kitchen counter to utilize the antenna. Or if the park pole has a connector for cable service, you could run a cable straight to the pole.

Believe it or not, in the same appliance that has the 12 volt outlet next to the king bed, there is a cable outlet. I have 4 cable outlets in my TM. One at the king bed, one at the end of the kitchen cabinet, one on the permanent 3 drawer dresser, and one on the outside.

So, I like the idea that I do not have to pay premium for an RV TV, but any insight into how heavy a TV I can use to hang off the bathroom wall with the TM supplied hanger?

Is this a good price for a TV ($277)?

The same one (I think) is much more on Amazon ($348)

I wouldn't place more than 19-26 inch. Use 2 hanger or anchor points equally hung on the partition wall. Any less TV size may be too small. The seating area in the 3124 is pretty good ways from the bathroom wall.

I am looking to view it from the king bed so that is why it would hang from the bathroom wall. I bought the TV hanging accessory from TM to do that. The TV I am looking at is 24 inches. Someday I will get a second one for the seating area .... maybe. I have read two different weights on this TV (12 or 16 pounds). Is 16 too much do you think?

I wouldn't think so. As long as the hangers are metal and not plastic. The wider apart they are the better. Each hanger or anchor would be supporting 1/2 the weight.

I wish my older unit had that many coaxial connectors available. Only the one in the kitchen. I guess I'm not watching TV in bed. Good luck.
