Default Blogging

Does anybody have experience with the various blogging packages out there? We're trying to get one started and are "trying" to compare. We would like to post summaries of each place we go and lotsa pictures. Also, the ability to edit offline would be good.

thanks,

There are several good blog sites . . . depends on your requirements. I sent you a PM on the blog site we've used for two of our winter travels.

Chris Bauer, one of our longtime members and great contributors, decided to go to Mexico. He lives there permanently now and does a lot of boondocking, which he describes in his blog at

http://livingboondockingmexico.blogspot.com/

Whatever software he uses seems to produce a pretty good result. And he was a really friendly guy. I'm sure he would be glad to discuss it with you.

My son uses blogspot to post pictures and stories about our grandson (well, and he and his wife too :-) ) . It seems to work pretty well. Allows pictures, videos, slideshows, etc.

Thanks for the inputs and PMs. We decided to go with Mytripjournal over Blogger. We liked the appearance of blogger better especially the ability to embed pictures with text but we couldn't figure it out in the short time that we had to evaluate it. Mytrip journal was easier to figure out quickly (at least for me). It seemed easier to upload text that was created offline (with Word). I had to mess with html on blogger. I think part of the issue is that blogger doesn't support Safari very well. We also wanted to upload a lot of pictures which seemed to be facilitated better on mytripjournal.

I think if we would have had more time we might have gone with Blogger. I'll check it out when I get home.

Here's the link to our blog: http://mytripjournal.com/Atwellroadtrips
I will probably add a sub-blog that discusses the travel logistics, towing, the camper, rvw. of parks etc. Hopefully I can figure out how to improve the look of the blog. Specifically, I like text/picture association for this sort of information so I'll try to figure out how to imbed pictures in teh text section.

wbmiller3, I liked your pictures. The gardening shots make me wish that I would have planted my Habanero Peppers before I left. How am I going to make hot sauce when I get home?

Bill, The Mexico boondocking blog is interesting. I would like to camp Mexico but worry about safety especially with the kids.

We're in Cortez, Co. now and heading into the Utah NPs for a week or so.

Trexhunters,

Thanks for pointing us to your blog; we're going to take the family on a 2 1/2 week camping trip across from Colorado back to the east coast this summer where our relatives live. That's ambitious enough for me to start with, but I'm hoping that we can figure out the logistics well enough to be comfortable on long trips. It's going to be interesting to see how to handle laundry, storage of clothes, etc. on longer trips like this. Good luck with it all and have fun.

You are making me think that we should set up a blog on our website, which might be a fun way for our folks to keep track of our adventures. Hmmm... Now I'll have to look into blogger vs the rest of the blogging tools.

Trexhunters,
Thanks for the compliment, yours is very nice too!

PS Have you read the story "A Gun For Dinosaur" by de Camp? Your name always reminds me of it!

Best,
