Gas Mileage
For those of us contemplating a new truck, I'd like to do a survey on gas mileage, both normal and towing.
I'd appreciate if you could respond indicating the truck, motor and estimated mileage.
Thanks
John

I call mine a truck, but it is an SUV -- Mercury Mountaineer.
We get about 18 on the highway and 14 in city driving without the TM behind us. We get about 14 on the highway with the TM behind us. We do not tend to tow much in cities so do not have a figure for that -- would expect about 10 or 11.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L Full-time 4wd, lift kit with 32" A/T's: 2720SL
Without TM: 12.4 mpg highway (best recorded) 10 mpg City average
With TM: 8.9mpg (one trip only so far) but I was pushing it also... this is a city and highway combined round trip mpg figure.

We are contemplating a Ford F-350 with crew cab. I would like to piggy back on this thread and would wonder if any readers might fill in gas milage for them. THanks -- Queeniereads aka Judi

You might want to check the following web site: http://www.intellichoice.com/reports...ord/model/F350
I can't speak for newer Ford trucks, but I can tell you my '97 F150 with 5.4L V8 is rated 14/18 hwy. I get 12/12.5 hwy. I'm one of those people who slows down 1/8 mile before a red light waiting for the light to change so I don't have to stop/start. You know, one of those folks who go 80000 miles between brake jobs. Ford truck fleet saleman (& good friend) admits privately the epa estiamates are grossly over inflated for Ford trucks.
Hope this helps!
