There's a round, black rotary switch mounted in one of the ceiling vents. Not exactly where you'd expect to find a light switch. Try turning that one click. Those front lights are finicky, and sometimes you also have to fiddle with the bulbs to make them light. One day I'm going to replace those ugly light fixtures!!

solution
If it is anything like mine,. there is a switch ( Black) in the power vent that controls the front lights. Youdid not specify a model

I agree that it is quite likely the little black knob.
For sake of completeness, in case some one reads this for a newer TM, I have seen some models in the last year or so where I did not see the knob. So, this is not a universal solution.

What a timely thread.......
We've had our TM for 6 months and have gone on 10 camp-outs with it. The whole time our front lights didn't work. I even replaced the bulbs.
Last weekend we were camping and I noticed a little black knob in the front ceiling vent. I asked my wife what it was. She turned it and viola.....the front lights came on.....

The same thing happened to us too, when we first bought our TM. I posted here (way back in 2003) that everything worked great except those front lights.
Thank goodness someone replied back and said to look for the toggle switch in the hatch.

I believe that the number of people that have not been fooled by the little black knob can be counted on one hand.
I was lucky, I saw the know and got curious. Fortunately, the lights were on at the fixture.

Well, now, B&D has (inadvertently?) proposed a reasonable solution to this annoying and ongoing problem. TM should replace the black rotary switch with a true toggle switch. The problem with a round switch is that it doesn't really look like a switch, and so it is easy to overlook when the lights won't go on. But to most people, a toggle switch fairly screams "Switch!". This one is a little shiny - I prefer a black ball-end switch - but it gives you the idea.
What do you all think? TM?

great idea, although I have never really had a problem with the rotary one. I guess that's because the guy that sold the TM to me showed it to me. I have more problems with the bulbs not sitting just right and blinking all the time. most of the time I just turn them off because they can be annoying.

I think that the "Rocker" switches look nicer and more proffessional:
A label would certainly be helpful as well......
